Cherenkov radiation from stars constrains hybrid MOND dark matter models

چکیده
Abstract We propose a new method to constrain alternative models for dark matter with observations. Specifically, we consider hybrid in which cold ( CDM ) phenomena on cosmological scales and Modified Newtonian Dynamics MOND galactic share common origin. Various such were recently proposed. They typically contain mode that is directly coupled (for has non-relativistic sound speed ). This allows even objects like stars lose energy through Cherenkov radiation. unusual. Most modified gravity have relativistic speed, so only high-energy cosmic rays emit discuss the consequences of this radiation from stars.

Indirect Dark Matter Detection Using Cherenkov Telescopes
The topic of this report pertains to the detection and analysis of γ-rays emitted from the galactic center (GC) using the Very Energetic Radiation Imaging Telescope Array System (VERITAS), a Cherenkov array system. The specific cause of γ-ray production around this region is speculated to be Dark Matter (DM). DM is an extension of the current standard model. The evidence for DM is so plentiful,...

متن کاملRelativistic MOND as an alternative to the dark matter paradigm
Milgrom’s Modified Newtonian dynamics (MOND) provides an efficient way to summarize phenomenology of galaxies which does not lean on the notion of dark matter; it has great predictive power. Here I briefly review MOND as well as its implementation as a nonrelativistic modified gravity theory, AQUAL. Gravitational lensing and cosmology call for a relativistic gravity theory different from genera...
متن کاملModified Gravity vs Dark Matter: Relativistc theory for MOND
MOND, invented by Milgrom, is a phenomenological scheme whose basic premise is that the visible matter distribution in a galaxy or cluster of galaxies alone determines its dynamics. MOND fits many observations surprisingly well. Could it be that there is no dark matter in these systems and we witness rather a violation of Newton’s universal gravity law ? If so, Einstein’s general relativity wou...
